Took a stab at a prompt I saw on a forum. The rules were that it couldn’t be more than 100 words, had to have the action of waiting for results, and it had to feature a watch. This is what I came up with…

THE WITCH TEST

Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. The townspeople had thrown Agatha into the lake with a weight tied to her waist. If she sank, she was innocent; if she floated – a witch. Just a matter of waiting for God to show them the results. Brother Justin checked his timepiece. 90 seconds and nothing. 3 minutes, nothing. She’d be the third innocent dead girl this year. Bless her soul. Perhaps they needed a different way of getting results. Then she emerged. Floating in the air. Angry. They never thought about what to do if they actually found a witch.
